Product information

Paint adhesion and corrosion protection primer

FINIXA Etch Primer in aerosol is a self etching primer for metal and aluminium. FINIXA Etch Primer in aerosol provides a anti-corrosion protection on metal and is sprayable with any 1K and/or 2K primer.

How does the self etching primer of FINIXA work?

FINIXA Etch Primer in aerosol is a primer that contains acid, which provides an excellent adhesion to any kind of metal and aluminium. This self etching primer of FINIXA draws moisture from the surface and closes it immediately. This makes the FINIXA self etch a great anti-corrosion protector. Please note that the substrate is stainless steel!

Oversprayable with all 1K and 2K primers

Spraying the FINIXA Etch Primer is not enough. When the etch primer is dust-dry and slightly sanded, it should be sprayed with a 1K or 2K primer. The self-etching primer is therefore an adhesion promoter that has to be oversprayed.

How do I spray FINIXA Etch Primer?

The FINIXA Etch Primer has to be shaken well before use. As a result, all solvents and substances are well mixed together for a professional result. In addition, make sure the surface is stainless, clean and free of grease. Preferably sand the surface with a Scotch Brite.

Start spraying a thin layer of etching primer. Once you see that it dries from gloss to matte, the primer is ready for a second and / or third paint layer. This must be sufficient for great adhesion and etching effect.

Note that the etching properties of the FINIXA Etch Primer start as soon as it is completely dried. We recommend applying thin paint layers. After spraying the etch primer, you should allow it to completely dry. The primer should dry at room temperature for a minimum of 24 hours before spraying a 1K or 2K primer over it.

Fibreglass and resin primer

FINIXA Etch primer is also a primer for fibre, resin and 2K epoxy resin. Due to the extremely smooth surfaces of these materials, the bonding is more difficult. The FINIXA Etch Primer can offer a solution as an adhesive primer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you remove adhesive residues

Are there adhesive residues on your car from a sticker or car wrap? Removing adhesive residues from the car can be tricky without damaging the paint. To remove adhesive residues without scratching, it’s best to use a caramel wheel. This is a rubber grinding wheel specifically designed to remove adhesive residues without damaging the car paint

How much can I spray with a spray can?

A 400ml spray can covers approximately 1.5 to 2 m², depending on the material porosity and layer thickness. For larger projects or multiple layers, we recommend accounting for an extra 10% to ensure you don't run out halfway through.

Very good primer
Very satisfied with the Etch primer. Good adhesion and spraying is perfect. The paint is well atomized so you have little chance of sags and gives a fine even surface.
