HVLP spray gun

HVLP paint sprayers are one of the most used spray guns. HVLP stands for High Volume Low Pressure. In other words, it produces a high volume output while using very little pressure. It is easier to control the spray gun and you will be spending much less material while the car paint quality will be very high.

Which nozzle size do I need?

Nozzle size is another important factor to keep in mind. The thicker the paint used, the larger your gun nozzle should be. Choosing the right spray gun nozzle might seem like a difficult job. However, you'll achieve the best results when you refer to the paint manufacturers technical data sheets for that particular product you're spraying.

A general rule of thumb is:

• 1.3: basecoat
• 1.4: 2K car paint, 2K clear coat and 1K alkyd paint
• 1.7: primer
• 2.0: HS primer
• 2.5: 2K polyester spray putty

Please keep in note that this is a general rule of thumb. Many car painters achieve outstanding results from unorthodox methods.
