Wheel Coating

Rim Coating

Wheel coating acts as an extra layer of clearcoat that protects the rim from stone chips, salt, brake dust, acid rain, brake fluid and other weather influences. You can coat your own rims with a special ceramic rim coating or rim wax. A wheel coating provides not only durable protection but also extra shine, depth and a super hydrophobic water beading effect. By applying a coating to rims, the wheels stay nice, clean and shiny longer!

As a specialist for car detailing products, you can buy the best rim coating from well-known brands such as CarPro, Koch Chemie and Angelwax at CROP. Explore the range at Nonpaints.com and order before 10 p.m. to have your coating for rims delivered the next day!

Coating rims. How do I do it?

You can coat your rims using our step-by-step plan! In a few simple steps, you can apply the wheel coating yourself for the ultimate seal. Always read the manual of the product before applying wheel coating. Observe this at all times for proper application.

  1. Clean the rims thoroughly beforehand. Use a wheel cleaner, powerful car shampoo and fallout remover.
  2. Before applying a rim coating, the paint must be completely clean. For this reason, we recommend polishing the rims first so that the paint is scratch-free.
  3. Degrease the rim with a high-quality degreaser (do not use a household degreaser!).
  4. Drizzle a small amount of rim coating onto the applicator pad.
  5. Apply the coating to the rims in a smooth motion.
  6. After application, allow the coating to evaporate and dry. The drying time of the coating varies per product (always read this first in the manual).
  7. Rub the coating off with a microfiber cloth that is clean and dry.
  8. Now move on to the next rim!

Wheel wax vs. Wheel coating

Although the products are very similar, a wax differs from a rim coating. We list the differences between a wax and coating for rims for you:

  • Wheel coating becomes harder, making it more resistant to scratches, stone chips and dirt
  • Coating remains longer on rims so that the wheels are permanently protected.
  • Wax for rims can be applied faster because it is less critical
  • With a coating on rims you have a higher hydrophobic effect
  • Wheel wax can be applied in the sun (not a coating)
  • Polishing is necessary with a wheel coating (not with a wheel wax)
